You know we love trying just about anything new and while we may have aged out of TikTok, when there’s a trend that’s racking up more than 4.5 million views, we know we’re about to give it a whirl. This time around we’re talking about ice globes. And, yeah, they’re for your face. Not sure if this is another scam on how to look better or the real deal? We’ve become a human guinea pig just for you!
We’re always ready to try just about anything that claims to make our skin look better, help us look younger, and just feel great overall. We’re not saying we’d light our face on fire – but if there was a TikTok trend, well, then maybe. Of course, do not light your face on fire.
Now it’s all about ice, but don’t worry you’re not going to need to stick your face into a bowl of ice water (like we’ve done in the past). Ice Globes have been around for a little while now, but more recently they’ve become the go-to for just about every beauty influencer on social. And, honestly, they seem really easy to use.
Many brands claim that ice globes (when used properly) may:
- Help to reduce puffiness
- Help to level out pigmentation levels
- Help diminish dark circles under your eyes
- Help to shrink the appearance of larger pores
- Help tighten and plump your skin
- Help to reduce acne and acne scarring
It sounds like it does everything for just about everyone but, of course, we were skeptical. The good news is that they’re really easy to use. Depending on which brand you choose (and there are a lot out there!), you typically toss these colorful ice globes into your freezer for at least 30 minutes. Once they’re frozen, you simply massage all areas of your face (forehead, over your eyes, under your eyes, around your cheeks – you get the point). Since you’re not apply ice directly to your skin, you’ll protect it from ice burns, but be sure to keep it moving. You can even use it on your neck as a bonus! Overall, just massage for around 10 minutes. Many brands recommend to do it first thing in the morning and then again at night before you go to bed.
Like, we mentioned there are a lot of brands to choose from out there – but currently the top two in this space include:
Prices, overall, can range anywhere from as low as $25 (on average) to as high as $125 (on average). If you’re new to this (like we were) we recommend not investing a fortune in this to try it out – but if you love it you may eventually want to upgrade. You do you, boo.
If you’ve followed our Trendy AF franchise you know we don’t love everything. We’re pretty honest when we say “it’s not really for us.” But this time around after using ours for a week (morning only) we have to say, do it!
We couldn’t commit to doing it at night, similar to flossing at night it just gets tricky. But when we used it in the morning we did love the way it felt. It was like a rush for our face. It did seem to reduce some puffiness, which is always appreciated and gave us a fresh glow (almost like when you’re outside in the winter and then come in to warm up). It appeared to make our pores seem slightly smaller, especially in our problem areas. We don’t have dark circles in general or acne (or acne scarring) so we can’t speak to that, but overall we’re kind of loving it. Plus, it just feels great after you’re done using the ice globes.
