You may have been hearing about “Profee” these days and not entire sure what it’s all about.  I was completely new to this concept (even though I felt like I invented this in my head years ago), but was ready to give it a try.  Does caffeinated protein really live up to the hype?  Let’s go!

Best Profee Caffeinated Protein Powder 2024

There’s been a lot of talk about Profee over the past few months and, as usual, it’s thanks to TikTok.  The Profee tag has almost 400,000 video views with TikTokers combing protein into their coffee (or vice-versa) to create “Profee.”  Go figure!

However (as usual) you really should never be adding, creating, or even taking any type of supplements without checking in with your doctor first.  In fact, there’s even been some negative impact reported by health officials when trying to create your own Profee when you really don’t know what you’re doing.  This could lead to excess protein intake, which is never a great idea.

So, since I’m not a doctor (imagine?!) I decided to leave it to the professionals who have expertly combined coffee with protein via caffeinated protein powder.  This way, at least you know you’re getting the proper balance of what your caffeine and protein intake should be.

If you’ve been following me for a while now here at Trendy AF, you know I’m willing to try just about anything that’ll turn back the clock, make me look and feel younger, or just help me with my every day life.  I’ve tried mushroom coffee (meh), ashwagandha gummies (not bad), and even the ever popular infuser machine – just to name a few.

A lot of the protein powders mixed with caffeine are said to help you replace your regular morning coffee (and even possibly retire your coffee maker).  I was open to trying it because (a) I love my coffee and (b) I def need more protein especially when I’m working out so this really made it easier and more efficient for me…in theory.

Now here’s the thing.  I despise the taste of most protein powders.  It always tastes like nickels or tuna cans to me.  So going into this I didn’t have high expectations.  I have, however, had some luck with the Muscle Milk brand so decided to try their brand since they have a “Coffee House” flavor.  There are a bunch of other brands that do the same, so I’ll list them out below.

I stopped drinking my regular coffee (iced via my Keurig) routine and switched to this.  Did it taste like coffee?  Yeah, kinda.  I made it like I would make my iced coffee so, the colder the better.  Did I get an extra 32 grams of protein in that one cup that I definitely would not have gotten in the morning?  100%.

Here’s the thing.  It’s not the worst.  Meaning, especially when I’m working out it’s really a decent “2 birds with one stone” type of situation.  If you’re buying coffee and protein powder this is definitely more cost effective too.  So, is it all worth it?  Drumroll please….

I’m so torn with this one, to be honest.  Here’s the thing.  I love my traditional iced coffee in the morning and “profee” just really isn’t the same. However, if you’re working out it’s really a great way get in that extra protein and depending on which brands you go with – at least you know the combination is safe.  I won’t be replacing my regular coffees each morning with this, but on the days I workout I am replacing one of my regular coffees with it.  And I’m only doing in when I workout in the morning because – well – caffeine for me after 5pm is a no-no.

So, I guess I’m giving this one a “do it!”  Or at least a “try it!

This is the brand I used (I’ve used other Muscle Milk products in the past as well).  Their Coffee House option has 32 grams of protein, 120 mg of caffeine, and only 2 grams of sugar per serving.  The taste is decent and the price is actually really good as well.  Currently this is the top seller in this space on Amazon.

A bit on the pricer side, this is actually my personal favorite.  From the buzzworthy Iconic brand, these are already made so all you have to do is shake, open, and drink.  Store them in the fridge or pour them over ice for a truly indulgent experience.  This one has 100 mg of caffeine, 20 grams of protein, and 0 grams of sugar.  You can even save 10% on your order if you subscribe.

3.  Dunkin + Dymatize Mocha Latte
Dunkin + Dymatize

Dunkin Profee

Dunkin Donuts fans unite!  This one is a great option when it comes to the actual taste and makes you feel like you’re drinking more of a regular coffee than a protein powder – even though it has both.  It has 25 grams of protein, 95 mg of caffeine, and less than 1 gram of sugar.

4.  Coffee Whey Protein Powder
Opportuniteas

$27.99

Perfect for those of you lookin for a low carb and keto-friendly option! Out of all my picks, this one as the least amount of caffeine in it, so if you’re looking for just a little kick without a massive jolt – give this one a go.  It has 27 grams of protein, 60 mg of caffeine, and 2 grams of sugar.  Reviewers on Amazon loved this one because of it being grass fed and tasting the most like a regular coffee.
