As if you and your kids already can’t keep up with the latest and great tech gadgets, one of the most anticipated releases of 2024 is the new Nintendo Switch OLED.  Here’s all the details you need to know!

New Nintendo Switch OLED 2024

Would it technically be toy season if there wasn’t a new video game system entering the market right before the holidays?  Enter: The Nintendo Switch OLED.  But before you jump on the bandwagon you gotta see if it’s really worth it for you to upgrade from your original Switch or even your Switch Lite.  Let’s do this!

What’s The Nintendo Switch OLED All About Anyway?!

You may have been hearing a lot about OLED in recent years when it comes to TVs.  This time around Nintendo is getting in on the action to make their Switch Screen totally OLED, which is going to help make colors and clarity way better.  We consulted with the tech experts to help explain more why people are moving towards OLED.  The main highlights include:

  • It’ll produce the most perfect black color on the market.
  • They emit no light at all!
  • It has the best contrast ratio ever.

In layman terms, your OLED screen is going to make all your images kick-ass and look better than anything else (currently on the market).  It’s a total game-changer (pun sort-of intended).  Seeing truly is believing.

What’s the Difference Between the New vs. the Original (or Lite)?

So when it comes to the new Switch, that’s basically the biggest different when compared to its older models.  Some additional bells and whistles you won’t get with older versions include:

  • The 7-Inch OLED screen for the most vivid images ever!
  • A wide adjustable stand that is sturdier than ever before.
  • A built-in LAN port so you can connect online when playing in TV mode.
  • 64 GB of internal storage (the most yet!).
  • Better audio/sound from the on-board speakers.
  • 3 modes of play: TV, tabletop, and/or handheld mode on the go.

So, here’s the deal to help you decide if you (a) want to buy this for the first time or (b) want to upgrade from an older version.  Our opinion is to go for the OLED version if you have the original Nintendo Switch.  You deserve the upgrade and it’s really so much better.  If you or your kids just bought the most recent Switch Lite, you could totally skip this one (for now).  Let’s face it, all of these are expensive.  But, if money is no object, then totally go for the new OLED version.  You really can’t go wrong.

When is the Official Release Date:

Like we mentioned, you should be able to get this just in time for the upcoming holiday season.  It’s being released to stores and online on October 8th.  Typically at places like Amazon you’ll be able to pre-order it around one or two months before then.  We’ll keep this page updated with pre order availability so you can snag yours early and lock in the lowest price possible.  In the meantime, you can check here on Amazon to see if it’s been added.

What’s the Price Supposed to Be?

So, yeah, it’s pricy.  The suggested retail price is $349.99.  Now, here’s the deal.  This is going to be tough to come by the closer you get to the release date and the closer you get to the holiday season.  Our biggest pet-peeve is certain retailers that will drastically jack up the price knowing we’re all desperate.  Please don’t pay more than the suggested retail price!

Where Can You Buy the Switch OLED Model in Stock?!

Again, this may be a tough one.  However, we recommend to only buy from retailers we trust.  Some of those include:

And, here’s the thing, if you truly are desperate and willing to spend whatever you can always check eBay.  Please (please, please, please) only buy from trusted sellers with positive ratings and reviews and don’t pay way over asking price.
