Of course there are cigar rooms that are basically walk-in humidors but, clearly, we’re not going to find any sales on those! We’re talking about your standard humidor that’s more of a box that’s designed to maintain a consistent level of humidity, typically around 70%. This helps to keep cigars fresh and prevents them from drying out or becoming brittle. Ok fine, you already knew that. We just wanted to show off for a minute.

There really are so many different types of humidors on the market, ranging from small desktop units to large walk-in rooms. No matter what size or style you choose, there are a few things you should keep in mind to get the most out of your humidor.
First, it’s important to season your humidor before using it. This involves adding a small amount of water to the interior so that the wood can absorb it and reach the correct level of moisture.
Once your humidor is seasoned, you’ll need to add cigars. Start by placing them in the bottom of the unit, then gradually add more until the humidor is full. Um, duh – right?
Be sure to check on your cigars regularly, and add water to the humidifier as needed to maintain the correct humidity level. With proper care, your humidor will keep your cigars fresh for months or even years! You probably will smoke them before “years” ever happens, but you get the point.
