Spring is in the air (or at least right around the corner) so that means it’s time to shed a couple of layers, retire that bulky winter coat and upgrade to one of these stylish and functional men’s spring coats.

Men's Spring Jackets 2024 - Water Repellant Coats for Men

Who’s ready for spring?  If you’re tired of looking like a head wrapped in one giant bulky coat with just your eyes peeking out, this is officially the time of year for you!  It’s officially time to toss on your favorite sunglasses, roll up those sleeves, and switch up your signature fragrance.  Just don’t forget your coat!

Depending on where you live in the country, spring can bring on the warmer weather for a few months or it can mess with your mind by having some days on the chilly side and others on the hot side.  Basically, you need a jacket that can adapt to the ever-fickle ways of Mother Nature.

This season we’re seeing a variety of blues, functional olive green options and, of course, some staple denim picks. On a personal note I always hate spending a ton of a jacket because, depending on the weather, I don’t feel like I get enough use out of it each season.  So I made sure to choose from options that can work with just about any budget.  Here’s the price breakdown so you know what to expect:

Low Price:  $55
High Price: $750
Average Price: $106

Take a look at some of my picks for some of the best spring jackets for men (so far) in 2024.  Here’s to warmer times!

1.  J. Crew Brunswick Spring Jacket
J. CREW

Brunswick Spring Jacket at JCREW

$120 | J.Crew

Material:  Stretch-Nylon
Color Options:
Blue, Golden Sun, and Green
Water Resistant: Yes

I always still tend to gravitate towards just about any of the coats that J. Crew comes out with.   And this season is no exception.  Stylish, perfectly fitting, and a must-have especially during rain season – this nylon jacket is hooded, has plenty of pockets to store things like your keys, phone – you name it, and is totally machine washable.  Not to mention, it goes well with just about any shade of denim jeans you’re currently sporting.

2.  The Redesigned Jean Jacket
AE

American Eagle Spring and Fall Jean Jacket

$90 | American Eagle

Material:  Denim
Color Options:
Blue
Water Resistant: No

The jean jacket is a staple that we all need in our closet, whether you’re rocking it in the spring or even want to layer it in the fall.  This season, this newly redesigned soft-wash denim option from popular retailer American Eagle is authentically faded so it gives it a bit of a modern twist on a retro look.  The back of the coat has adjustable waist tabs so you can move them around especially if you weight fluctuates season over season (like mine does).

3.  Men’s Seawolf Jacket in Overboard Yellow
CANADA GOOSE

Canada Goose Yellow Jacket for Men

$750 | BackCountry.com

Material:  3L Tri-Durance
Color Options:
Yellow, Orange, Black, Blue, and Red
Water Resistant: Yes

Hear me out, because I am obsessed with this coat.  I know it’s super-expensive – but the color and function is impeccable.  This season bright (hello, neon) colors are on trend and you can’t get more colorful than this beauty.  It’s from the high-end luxury brand Canada Goose, so you know the quality is amazing.  It totally seals out the weather (rain), just is still completely breathable.  This one stops around mid-thigh so it can really be paired with just about any pants you plan on wearing.  Our friends at BackCountry have a really competitive price on this, so check them out if you’re interested!

4. The Lightweight Quilted Vest
BONOBOS

Bonobos VEst

$169 | Bonobos

Material:  Nylon + Spandex
Color Options:
Cobalt Blue and Black
Water Resistant: Yes

If you’re looking for something you can wear to work on those days that are a bit warmer, but you still need a little something to keep the chill away, check out the classic vest from the folks at Bonobos.  Personally, I love the bright color and how it’s lightweight enough that you won’t feel like you’re sweating through it.  It’s actually water repellant too, so you won’t have to worry about it getting ruined in the rain.

5.  Goodthreads Moto Jacket
GOODTHREADS + AMAZON

$55 | Amazon

Material:  100% Cotton
Color Options:
Olive Green, Black, and Brown
Water Resistant: No

On of the best priced and stylish picks of the season is the new twist on the classic moto jacket.  It’ll give you a bit of an edgier look whether you’re heading to the office, off to happy hour, or just bumming around town.  Plus, it has plenty of pockets so you can basically bring everything you own with you.

6.  Patagonia Torrentshell
PATAGONIA

Patagonia

$149 | BackCountry.com

Material:  Recycled Nylon
Color Options:
Blue, Green, Red, and Black
Water Resistant: Yes

Another great options when you’re looking for that pop of color and still want to stay dry at the same time.  You can never go wrong with just about anything from Patagonia, especially when it comes to quality and outdoor wear-and-tear.  While you can, of course, wear this for everyday use – it also makes the perfect option when you’re heading out for a run, hitting the trails for that weekend hike, or just spending some time outside doing an activity.

7.  The North Face Wind Jacket
THE NORTH FACE

The North Face Wind Jacket

$99 | Zappos

Material:  Light-Weight Nylon
Color Options:
Black and Blue/Green
Water Resistant: Yes

I own one too many North Face coats and I’m totally ok with that.  This one is a nice option to rock when it’s windy out and you need a little extra protection.  It’s light-weight, but it’ll still keep you warm enough. And you can’t beat the price, especially because this one is officially sold by Zappos (they offer free shipping and returns too).

8.  Topman Icon Bomber
TOPMAN

$65 | Nordstrom

Material:  100% Polyester
Color Options:
Olive and Black
Water Resistant: No

Bombers are where it’s at again this season.  Personally I own the one in black, but if you’re tired of black go with the olive option (shown above).  It fits true to size, is perfect for both the spring and fall, and can even be worn over your favorite t-shirt where you just wear it as is when you’re out.  Right now Nordstrom is offering free shipping too, so snag it while you can.
