So many websites are buzzing about the sheets from Brooklinen, but are their sheets actually worth it?  The answer may surprise you.  Here’s everything you need to know.

Review if Brooklinen is Worth It

Ready for our favorite review series “Is It Worth It…Let Me Work It” where we look at one particular product that’s getting some buzz, we buy it, try it, and let you know if we think it’s actually worth it.  Not everything is going to be worth it!

I consider myself a sleep expert, meaning that I have the worst time sleeping and am willing to try – literally – everything to fall asleep and stay asleep, and that includes finding the best sheets money can buy (within reason).

When researching a wide variety of sheets over the past few years there really is one brand that seems to make every website’s list:  Brooklinen.  I’ve tried so many different brands, so was excited to give Brooklinen a go and see what all the hype was about.

Full disclosure, I purchased these myself (the brand did not provide them in exchange for a review) and was a little surprised at the price.  It’s kind of high (in my opinion), but they’re considered a luxury sheet brand and with that typically comes a higher price.  I’m not fully convinced that you have to spend a lot to get a real quality sheet set.  But, alas, here we are.

So we’re all on the same page I purchased their standard cotton sheets set (queen size) that comes with one fitted sheet and 2 pillowcases.  I also chose classic white.  If you’re not really familiar with Brooklinen, here are some of their selling points when it comes to their sheets.

  • They’re made of 100% long-staple cotton.
  • 480 thread-count making them buttery soft.
  • They’re eco-friendly (OEKO-TEX certified).
  • They have a great 365 day exchange policy if you’re unhappy with your purchase.

In case you wondering how I tested these and for how long I actually used them for 2 months.  Here’s some key-points that went into the test:

  • Used them for 2 full weeks.
  • Washed them before I first put them on my bed.
  • Washed them every two-weeks thereafter (is that gross?)
  • Slept on them for a total of 61 days.

Pretty standard, right?  I have to admit, they are really comfortable and soft.  What surprised me was how comfortable they were right off the bat.  There’s a lot of conflicting opinions whether you should wash your sheets before using them for the first time, but I basically wash everything new first.  That may have helped break them in a bit but, either way, totally comfy.

I’m a hot and sweaty sleeper so I found that fact that these helped keep me a bit cooler while I slept totally refreshing.  And since I washed these a bunch they seemed to get a bit more comfortable (and softer) with each wash and dry.  It was actually kind of funny (and very helpful) that they have tags on the fitted sheet letting you know where the short side is and where the long side is – which made putting it back on my mattress super easy.

When it comes to the pros and cons of my Brooklinen experience, here’s how it went.

PROS

• The sheets really are soft and comfy and get even more comfy the more you wash them.

• I don’t use a regular top sheet so it’s nice that it doesn’t even come with one.

• They have a ton of fun colors and patterns to choose from, even thought I went with boring white.

• The fitted sheet has labels of “long” and “short” to make it easy to put on your mattress and get it right the first time!

• They’re OEKO-TEX certified, meaning they’re free of harmful chemicals.

Let’s not forget about the cons:

CONS

• These are a bit pricey ($125 for a queen size) and only comes with the fitted sheet and two pillowcases.

• They recommend to replace these (completely) every 2-years.

Ok, so this is it.  When all is said and done, are Brooklinen sheets really worth it?

Orange Worth It

If I’m being truly honest, I feel like this is totally subjective.  When you find the sheets you love, you really want to just go with it.  I did love mine, but I gotta be truthful – for the price I don’t really think these are worth it.  I know.  It’s such an unpopular opinion.

I only say this because there are other sheet sets from other brands that are cheaper that I love just as much.  I’ve purchased sheets from LL Bean, Bed Bath & Beyond, and even Amazon.  In fact, one of my favorite sheets from Amazon are these – and they’re only $35 for a queen set.  Are they 100% apples-to-apples?  Probably not, but comfort is comfort.

And here’s the thing. If you’re going to spend $125 on a set, it’s a bit frustrating that it’s recommend replacing them every 2-years (and their pillowcases every year).

I won’t deny their comfort – they’re amazing.  It’s just, for me, the price isn’t worth it.  But if you’re looking to test-drive these for yourself and they are within your budget, here’s where you can pick up a set.
