We first got our Roomba when they first came out some years and back for our apartment and were quite stunned with how well it worked. We were even able to schedule it to clean when we were at work so we’d come back to a cleaned up apartment. Later we tried out Dyson’s version and – to be honest – we didn’t have the best experience so, back to iRobot we went and we’re never straying from them again. And now that they have a robotmop – well, we’re more hooked than ever before. If you’ve been thinking of treating yourself to some robot love, now’s the perfect time especially with a coupon or two (more on this in a bit).

Now we love our Roomba, but we’re not experts in vacuums by any means. So we consulted with thereal experts at The Wirecutter who’ve spend hundreds of hours testing (like, for real) all sorts of robot vacs and have named iRobot twice in their “Best of the Year” list.
They’ve actually come a long way since we purchased our first. TBH, at first you kind of just turned it on and watched it randomly vacuum all around the apartment. It was like a sport of sorts. We had to pick up wires and keep placing it back on the rug like it was a dog who went off his pad. Alas, they’ve fine-tuned, upgraded, made them way smarter, made their battery life way better, and so much more. While there are different ones to choose from, some main features that sent them apart from so many others include things like:
- 40x the suction power
- Picks up and removes pet hair from carpeting
- Automatic dirt disposal up to 60 days (it empties itself!)
- Maps the area and learns even more over time
One key thing we think is important for you to know is that (unlike some other brands) you want to make sure it can fit under your couch, bed, etc. We’ve had a different brand in the past that was so tall it never could make it under anything and would always get stuck. Annoying! There are a ton of great vacuum deals taking place this month, but just make sure you’re finding the right one for your needs. Luckily, iRobot has a pretty decent vac selection.
If you’ve ever been on the fence about trying out a Roomba or even their Braava smart mop, we think it’s totally worth it. They’re great for smaller spaces, but you’d be surprised as to how well they preform in large areas too. Honestly, our home has never been cleaner!
