Awww sookie sookie! People are losing their minds over the fact that a Middle School teacher of 12 years called his student a “loser” on a graded assignment and then deducted 20% from her grade for, in fact, being a loser. The mother of the 6th grade Enka Middle School student had apparently complained to school officials in the fall over the teacher, Rex Roland, allegedly callgin her daughter a loser on one of her assignments. Evidently Roland wrote, “-20% for being a loser” on the girls paper. The school Superintendent is currently investigating this alleged incident.
Ok, look. This probably isn’t the best thing to do to a young student, but this is basically how my entire Catholic school education was from 1st grade to 8th grade. The nuns would, literally, tip over our desks and throw them across the room while calling us “dirt-balls” if our desks were messy. Some nuns would make us stand at the front of the room during math class and answer math questions until we could finally get one correct. This included standing there for the full 45 minutes and crying if you couldn’t answer the math problem all while the nun would call you “Dippity-Dumb-Dumb” in front of the entire class. My point is that while in today’s society this is unacceptable, it was kinda that way that people my age were taught and educated….and I’m not really that old so, well, there’s that.
