    It looks like the top 4 of her teeth are possibly veneers. When you have any teeth repair done the dentist doesn’t just go white. They try to match the color of your teeth so it’s not noticable. As for the brown/yellow color of Crystals teeth, it could be from not brushing, it could be lack of fluoride in the water or certain medications taken while a child can permenantly affect the color of the teeth. So, only Crystal and her dentist knows for sure but I bet this stint on Idol will get those teeth pearly white!

    I cannot get beyond those teeth!! I was completely surprised when she showed p with them whiter immediately…wonder what they did to “fix” them up a little?! Looks like a classic meth mouth to me…similar to those i’ve seen professionally. It’s a sin…but makes me curious to know her story. First the teeth….then those nasty dreads!     Look. If there is a medical reason behind her khaki teeth, then I won’t make any additional jokes. However, if there are medical reasons why her teeth are khaki BUT it could be fixed with a 7 day box of Crest White Strips, then I’m going to continue to make jokes. If you want to say she can’t afford “the strips” I beg to differ as I assume the $ she is saving on shampoo can certainly go to teeth whitening. Also, her fingernails are always dirty. There’s no medical condition associated with that.

    She IS probably the best singer and, again, is a huge talent. Just clean it up. Come on. Clean. It. Up.

    Okay toolbags, now to hear from an actual dentist….. the darker than ideal color of her teeth could be from one of many congenital developmental defects in the enamel, it could be from too much fluoride, it could be from any of several habits like excessive coffee, tea or wine intake, and it could be the result of some other substance. To take a look while she is speaking or performing cannot tell you the answer. Could meth have been a factor? Can’t rule it out, but it doen’t look like “classic meth mouth” as others want to say…if you have really seen meth mouth, up close and personal, then you will agree. I suspect a congenital malformation of the teeth. As for the missing canines, I bet they are there and never erupted….orthodontics could have helped very likely. A radiograph…panoramic preferably, could answer that. The bigger questions are 1)why everyone here gives such a damn, and 2) why the hell did I feel the need to respond………the answer to #1 is you have no lives, and the answer to #2 is I have no life, and I wanted to correct all you dental experts……………… and she is the best real artist on this season…..

    I never did drugs and always had great dental care and my teeth are just, sadly, genetically yellow in color. It is true that medications taken when a child is young or even taken by the mother when pregnant will darken the teeth. All I know is that I got teased as a young kid and it really affected my self esteem.

    And in case anyone hasn’t noticed dental care is very expensive and there is usually no dental insurance. SO….leave her alone and let her sing….she’s fantastic no matter what her teeth look like. Nobody’s perfect and that includes you!

    Seriously, whether or not she is talented doesn’t change the fact that she is nasty, and has nasty teeth. Just like Scott McIntyre being talented won’t change the fact that he is blind. What does one have to do with the other? Nothing. Unfortunately for her however, she is not better, not even close, she is quite disgusting and America will realize sooner rather than later that she has no sense of gratitude for being where she is, and she will soon be voted off. (I don’t care who wins, I just can’t look at her anymore)

    Hooray! I can’t believe I found a website that is not afraid of letting people voice their true, personal feelings about this girl. I know tons of you love her no matter what she sings (if she farted on stage I’m sure the judges would even say that was in key, unique and refreshing).     People….people. Is your appearace perfect? If it is , then go ahead cast the first stone. As the mother of a Type 1 diabetic I can tell you they have more problems with teeth because of his blood sugars making saliva more acidic. Just one of the hurdles facing type 1 diabetics besides taking insulin shots and the risk of coma from high blood sugar and passing out from low blood sugar on a daily basis. So go ahead, bash her for her teeth, instead of praising her for her talent and her braveness in battling this horrible disease.

    thanx, Doc, for putting it straight. I am a dental hygienist and was surprised that the other “hygienist” thought this was classic meth mouth. Don’t you think it odd that she is missing the same teeth bilaterally? Meth mouth teeth are usually missing/rotted in a more random pattern. I don’t see any “speed bumps” on her skin. How can you tell she has rampant decay? Is your HDTV that sharp? I think Doc said it best and probably is the closest to a proper “diagnosis.” Probably congenitally missing or unerupted cuspids and “colorado brown stain” from too much fluoride in the well water. Diabetes also challenges a person’s oral health. I am very aware of people’s teeth; hey, it’s my business. And yes, Crystal’s could be prettier. But, Crystal, far and away, is the most talented this season. You go girl!

    Crystal didn’t just get her teeth whitened; she had her ‘backwards’ eye-teeth either pulled or covered in caps or veneers to make her teeth even. I think they look great. Eliot Yamin had his teeth fixed, too, after his run on AI. Not a big deal; so why put them down? I know a woman who had braces put on when she was in her 40’s.     Everything about that skank makes me want to puke. The fat crap tank, the filthy whodad dreadlocks, and of course, the rotted, fecal breath, half missing, golden brown, never been brushed, pretzel teeth.     i think all you folks who want ever amount to anything are just downright jealous that a small town country girl can actually get a break. sure she needed her teeth fixed but if you had heard her and not seen her when she sang im sure she would have won. i think shes the next super star and the winner will fade out, because he was selected because he looked better than crystal.
